Winden Bricks Copy Paste Buttons duplicating

Publish date: 12/09/2024 •  Bug • Winden •  Malte

Hello, I found another Winden bug in Bricks. When you click the plus icon in the top left to add an element, the copy and paste buttons from Winden plain classes get duplicated. You can see it in the screenshot. I tested it on different sites with plugins disabled, so I think you can replicate it yourself and don’t need access to a staging site. Kind Regards, Malte

It is a known issue, and it will be solved in future releases.

Kindly test the new beta version release, you can download it from the dplugins dashboard, note that it is a beta version for testing and report the issues back, so use staging site first.

      Hi,

I finally had time to test 2.5 and the new “plain classes” is way better now, thanks for that. There are two issues that I’ll talk about tomorrow, since it’s already late here.

      Regards,
      Malte

Hi, I appreciate the followup, thank you. I am a bit short on time right now. But I will test the beta as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Malte

So, the issues I found are:

    1. When writing text in a heading element in Bricks, in my case, it deletes the class sm:text-5xl.

    2. With the second issue, I didn’t figure out a pattern, but sometimes it just deleted margin classes at div elements, also with sm: in front of it.

Here are the Plugins I am running on the site:

      Advanced Themer for Bricks (3.0-beta)
      Font Hero (2.2.1)
      Redis Object Cache (2.5.4)
      Structeezy (1.8.3)
      Winden (2.5.0)

      and Bricks 1.12.1

      Thanks, we will improve it.

Hi There, I couldn’t replicate the issue, can you please edit this ticket and provide login details to the site, or maybe a same staging site to check what’s is conflicting.

        Hi Mohammad,

thank you for your reply. Currently, I’m unable to create a staging site, but I have provided you with the login details to the site. Please be cautious while investigating, as I’m currently building this site for a client. I kindly ask that no changes are made that could break the site.

You can observe the issues I mentioned primarily on the “About Me” page:
        1. When editing the H1 header, you’ll notice the behavior.
        2. When changing the HTML tag of the outer section, you’ll see the second issue.

I also tested this on Firefox to rule out a browser-specific issue with Chrome, and the behavior is consistent across both browsers.

Regarding the second issue: the problem is not limited to margin classes but seems to affect all classes with breakpoints, such as lg: or sm:. However, I did a quick test and noticed that when “Split Screens (by breakpoint)” is enabled under plane classes in bricks, the issue doesn’t seem to occur. This still needs further confirmation, but it might give you an idea of where to look.

        Thank you for your help!

        Best regards,
        Malte

Hi there, can we download the website to localhost to test, just to be sure, we don’t break anything on live site ?

BTW can you please check the issue with just released Winden 2.6.0 version, if that solves the issue, otherwise we will continue to work on your issue.

Did you get the site downloaded already? I am going to start working again on it today.

    • support says:

Hi I’ve not downloaded the site, as I’ve reproduced the issue after testing the things, it only happens when the next element is inserted within the same level or same div, if it is inserted in the inner div or outside another div it doesn’t happen.

So you can work it as you like, we are not working on the site anymore, you can remove the access as well for now, when we need we will ask you again to provide the login.

Hey, I just wanted to ask what the best way is to report things I notice with Winden? Do you want me to create a ticket for everything? I am asking because I would rather not get annoying, but also want to help to find issues.

I got three things I noticed, but of course, sometimes I don’t know whether it’s Winden or at my end or something else.

So please let me know what the best way is, so I don’t annoy you :D.

    Best Regards 🙂

You can open a new ticket for every request, but if it is like same, then you can do it in one ticket as you need.

We have a backlog for every issue reported separately so you can have any of the above way.

Make sure to have the steps to reproduce issue, or better a video record.

Note that, we close the ticket when the issue is resolved, then replies to it are not seen afterwards. So if you didn’t listen from us for that resolved ticket, kindly open a new ticket.

Also we have Facebook group for normal questions, or user-experiences they have in the past and solve it themselves or by help of other users regarding user-flow, usage of plugin etc. For BUGS tickets are the best way to get support.

Alright, thanks for the detailed answer. I will open the first ticket soon because there is still this issue in Bricks with Winden where different global classes get the same ID in the Database, and it only happens to me with Winden enabled. But I want to take Screenshots and maybe record a Video to explain everything better.
