Question about Winden license check – repeated HTTP 504 and fatal error on login

Hi DPlugins team,

I’m seeing some intermittent fatal errors related to Winden’s licence check on one of my sites, and I wanted to check whether I might have misconfigured something, or whether there were any issues your side around this time.

On 6 December 2025 between about 08:44 and 09:18 (UK time), attempts to access the WordPress login page (/wp-login.php, using iThemes Security’s hide-backend URL) would occasionally fail with a 500 error. The Apache/PHP error log shows repeated uncaught exceptions coming from Winden’s licence request whenever it receives an HTTP 504 response.

Here’s an example from the logs:

[Sat Dec 06 08:58:19.620804 2025] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 3823004:tid 127039268964032] [client 146.198.218.44:0] AH01071: Got error ‘PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Exception: Curl request failed: Request failed with HTTP code 504 in /home/storm/sites/kqowu-nimsite-uk/public/wp-content/plugins/winden/App/Helpers/HttpRequest.php:42

Could you please let me know:

If there were any known issues or timeouts on your licensing server around 06-12-2025 08:44–09:18 UK time, and

If there’s anything I might have misconfigured (firewall, timeouts, etc.) that could be contributing to the 504 responses?

Happy to provide more log excerpts or environment details if that would help.

We have changed something at our side, you need to manually update it by downloading from the DPlugins dashboard, and for future versions it will update as usual.
