New empty classes created when using autocomplete feature

If the new ‘Enable Plain Classes (Winden Classes Autocomplete)’ feature is turned on, but the old ‘Register to Bricks’ Global Classes Index’ is not selected, whenever the autocomplete feature is used, an empty class corresponding to whatever letters had been typed before the autocomplete was selected is created.

To reproduce:

In SwissKnife: turn ON Enable Plain Classes (Winden Classes Autocomplete)

In Winden: turn ON Autocomplete.

In Winden: turn OFF Register to Bricks’ Global Classes Index

In Builder: Create a container. Select it. In the new Plain Classes box type ‘a’. Select any of the classes that are offered.

Note that: the class you selected is successfully added to the container.

Click on the old Bricks class selection box to see a list of Bricks registered classes.

*** Note that the class you selected has been added BUT ALSO A CLASS ‘a’. This class has no attributes.

NOTE – this does not happen if the old ‘Register to Bricks’ Global Classes Index’ is enabled – but I believe that this slows down the builder, as it registers 7000 classes to the database, and is undesirable, hence the introduction of the new feature. Is this correct?

Bricks 1.7

Swiss Knife 1.04

Winden 1.1.9

WP 6.1.1

Tested on fresh install, localhost, no other plugins.

You should enable the REGISTER to GLOBAL CLASSES feature without that, autocomplete won’t work properly. It is only there for autocomplete, not a replacement.

Thanks for the reply – but doesn’t the REGISTER to GLOBAL CLASSES feature store the classes in the bricks database? Which is exactly what you say slows down performance in the video:

Or have I misunderstood how things are working?
